Adding Images to Your Web Pages

You’re probably going to want to have a few pictures or graphics on your web pages.

It’s easy enough to do if you have some graphics and images lying around (see the section "Cool graphics for your web page'), but you must remember that any images you want to appear on a webpage must be uploaded to your space on your web hosting account—to the same place where you’re “putting” the web pages you’re making.

For example, imagine that you’re building your webpage on your personal computer, and you insert an image—an image, let’s say, that you had on your computer's "desktop." It will look fine as long as you’re looking at the web page as you work on it inside of Dreamweaver on your personal computer.

However, when you upload that page to your lunarpages (web host) account and then look at the page as it appears on the internet, the image will not be there! How come? Because the computers of the World Wide Web don’t have access to the “desktop” of your personal computer—and that’s where the image file is. Before any graphics on a web page can be actually seen on the internet, you must upload the graphics to your web hosting account.
